Rename University Road as Shahrah-e-Urdu: FUUASTMarch 1, 2016
Karachi: Registrar of Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) Asif Ali has appealed to the government to rename the University Road from Hassan Square to Safoora Goth as Shahrah-e-Urdu to reflect the interest of the government in implementing Urdu as the national language of Pakistan.
He said the recent verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has already made it mandatory to do all official correspondence in Urdu language. He said that in the year 2014 the World Urdu Conference has passed a resolution to name the University Road as Shahrah-e-Urdu. He said the commissioner Karachi and other official have been requested repeatedly in writing to implement this resolution but in vain.
He hoped that the concerned authorities would give a serious consideration to this request and rename the University Road as Shahrah-e-Urdu.
