KARACHI: All the departmental officers of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation have been directed to speed the process of opening their accounts in Sindh Bank. A facility centre would also be set up by the bank at Civic Centre which would help the officers get their accounts activated speedily, said Metropolitan Commissioner Masood Alam on Wednesday.

“Following the directives of the administrator Karachi, all the officers are bounded to open their accounts in Sindh Bank, while their reservations would be attended at every level,” he said in a meeting with the Advisor Finance Afaq Saeed, leader of Sajjan Union Zulfiqar Ali Shah, leader of Labour Union Karachi Development Authority Abdul Mateen and representatives of Sindh Bank.

He said the administration of Sindh Bank had been informed about the reservations of the officers on which the administration of the bank had assured that the reservations would be paid heed.

The representatives of the unions pointed out that branches of the bank would be needed in different areas of the city including Baldia Town, Orangi Town and Lyari as a large number of the employees resided in those areas.

The metropolitan commissioner said the salaries would be paid through Sindh Bank after completion of all the processes.
