Rs. 1.56 bn being spent on completion of six roads: Commissioner GujranwalaSeptember 21, 2015
SIALKOT: The construction work on six important main roads has begun in Sialkot district under the annual development programme of Punjab government. The provincial government is spending Rs. 1.56 billion on the roads infrastructure development in Sialkot district for providing the better means of communication to the local people.
Commissioner Gujranwala Division Shamail Ahmed Khawaja disclosed this while talking to the newsmen here Wednesday. Local MNA Sahibzada Syed Iftikharul Hassan Shah, MPA Ch. Tariq Akhtar Subhani, Sialkot DCO Dr. Asif Tufail, DCO Gujranwala Mohammad Aamir Jan, DCO Narowal Syed Najaf Iqbal and local notables were present on this occasion.
Commissioner said that the Punjab government has allocated Rs. 47.520 million for the construction of 9 KMs long Panwana-Lohaarkey-Kotli Data Darmaan, Rs. 1215.495 million for the dualization and reconstruction of 16 KMs long main Daska-Sambrial Road, Rs. 146 million for 11 KMs long main Motra-Badiana, Chawinda-Shakargarh Road, Rs. 43.735 million for 7.7 KMs long roads from Adda Begowala -Railway Station Begowala and Kotli Joyiaan-Nawaan Pind , Kotli Miani-Nandgarh-Malkhaanwala, Rs. 5,420 million for the construction of 8.45 KMs long road from Adda Warsaalkey to Adda Baddokey Cheema.
Commissioner Shamail Ahmed Khawaja said that the Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif has also allocated Rs.100 million for the early construction of an international standard Ring Road around the Sialkot city, as the provincial government had already approved the PC-II, feasibility report and design of Sialkot Ring Road project, saying that a flyover was also being established at Sialkot city’s congested China Chowk to lessen the traffic rush there by spending millions of rupees.
Earlier, the Commissioner reviewed the pace of progress of these road infrastructure projects in Sialkot district, saying that these projects would open the new vistas of socio-economic development in Sialkot region.
