SC (SC orders to adopt Urdu as official language)

Islamabad: The Supreme Court has ordered for immediate adoption of Urdu as official language.The order was passed by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja while delivering judgment in a case on Tuesday.

The Court also ruled that under the Constitution it is must to adopt Urdu as official language after fifteen years of implementation of the 1973 Constitution.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has ordered Auditor General of Pakistan to immediately conduct audit of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Lahore and ten other institutions.

The three member bench headed by Chief Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja declared that under the 18th amendment non of the federal or provincial government institution is exempted from audit.
