SC seeks progress report on Parveen’s murder caseJuly 27, 2015
KARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday sought a progress report in a murder case of director Orangi pilot Project Dr Parveen Rehman.
A larger SC bench comprising Justice Hani Aslam, Justice Musheer Alam and Justice Maqbool Baqar heard the petition filed by Human Rights Commission at its Karachi registry.
During the hearing Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Feroz Shah and other police officers appeared before the court. DIG informed the court that police had found enough evidences but investigation officer of the case SSP Pir Mohammad Shah is on the leave and that’s why report could not be produced. He requested the court to give police respite for producing the report. The court adjourned the hearing and sought the progress report of the case during the next hearing.
Earlier Supreme Court had noticed on the letter written to it by Human Rights Commission, appealing it to take notice of Parveen’s murder. Dr Parveen Rehman was killed when the assailants shot her near Karachi’s Korangi area on 13 February 2013 when she was on his way to home.
