Senate: (Senate refers two bills to joint sitting of parliament)

ISLAMABAD: The Senate through two different motions referred two bills to the joint sitting of the Parliament on Monday.

The Bills include the Civil Servant Amendment Bill, 2014 and the Emigration Amendment Bill, 2014. The motions were moved by Saeed Ghani and Ghous Mohammad Khan Niazi.

The Senate resumed debate on a motion moved by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to make recommendations to the National Assembly on the Finance Bill, 2015 containing the annual budget statement.

Taking part in the debate Hidayatullah said FATA has been playing front line role in the war against terror and the infrastructure has been damaged to a great deal. He also demanded allocation of more funds for primary education and setting up of new schools in FATA.

Naseema Ehsan proposed that the tax net be widened to include those segments of society that have been exempted from the tax. Chairman Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Human Rights Mohammad Javed Abbasi presented report of the Committee on “The Legal Practitioner and Bar Councils, Amendment Bill, 2015″. The Bill deals with amending the Legal Practitioner and Bar Councils Act, 1973.
