Shaharyar elected new PCB chief

Karachi: Shaharyar M. Khan was unanimously elected as Chairman PCB on Monday in a special meeting of the Board of Governor (BoG) chaired by Justice (Retd) Muhammad Sair Ali under Paragraph 7 (2) and (3) of the PCB Constitution 2014.

This is the second time that Shaharyar has been appointed as PCB chairman. He was made chairman of the board back in 2003.

Justice Sair Ali immediately notified the election and handed over the charge of office to Shaharyar. Other than Shaharyar Khan and the outgoing acting Chairman Justice Sair Ali, former Chairman Najam Sethi, Shakil Sheikh (Islamabad), Gul Zada (Peshawar), Prof Ejaz Faruqi (Karachi), Iqbal Qasim (NBP), Amjad Latif (SNGPL), Mansoor Masood Khan (UBL) and Yousuf Nasim Khokhar (WAPDA) also attended the special BoG meeting.

In the subsequent BoG meeting chaired by Shaharyar M. Khan, his appointment as chairman PCB was unanimously endorsed by the newly constituted BoG. Amongst other decisions Ahmad Shehzad Farooq Rana was appointed as Deputy Election Commissioner PCB in accordance with the Board’s constitution 2014.
