NAUNDERO: PPP Co-Chairman, Asif Zardari and his daughter Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari reached Garhi Khuda Bux on Sunday evening and offered Fateha, and showered rose petals at the grave of Benazir Bhutto to mark her 62nd birthday anniversary.

Strict security arrangements were made around the mausoleum during their visit and nobody was allowed to go inside and those who were already there were asked to leave. Former Azad Kashmir President Chaudhry Abdul Majied also accompanied them.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that letter written to Rangers by him has been flashed in media over and above its size which was not an issue adding that Rangers is under the control of federal government. He further said that federal and Sindh governments are on the same page against terrorism and actions against terrorists will continue.

He was talking to journalists in Garhi Khuda Bux where he arrived on Sunday to offer his prayers on the eve of 62nd birthday celebrations of slain PPP Chairperson Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. Qaim said that they had understanding with federal government and not with Nawaz League which will continue for the betterment of the country and against terrorists.

Replying to a question, Shah said that through a friend, parleys are underway with the MQM to bring them back to the government fold. He was accompanied by Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and others.

Meanwhile, early Sunday morning, Peoples Party activists, MNAs & MPAs participated in the Quran Khuwani held inside Bhutto mausoleum graveyard and offered Dua for the departed soul of their cherished leader Benazir Bhutto. Very low turnout was witnessed during the day due to worst electricity load shedding, Ramzan fasting and extreme hot weather. Free food (Lungar) was also distributed after the recitation of Holy Book among the available persons.

Meanwhile, people of Zangejo community were batton charged by Naundero police when they tried to hold a protest demonstration against Ratodero police’s highhandedness for not arresting the accused involved in killing seven-year-old Sindhu Zangejo who lost her life in Veesar-Zangejo dispute few days ago in Ratodero.

Holding playcards in their hands, they tried to make a complaint to the visiting Sindh Chief Minister and other higher authorities but the cops sniffed their intention and they first tried to persuade them to get out of the Bhutto graveyard but they did not.

When they failed, they started beating them mercilessly and batton charged due which Sadardin Zangejo and Jumo Khan Zangejo were seriously injured. Nazar Mohammad and Adil Zangejo while talking to reporters said that they had come to seek justice at the graves of Bhutto leaders but they got only severe beating with cudgels by the police. DSP Naundero Yasin Tagar tried in vain to talk to the protesters but they refused. They have demanded stern action against the cops and arrest of all accused involved in the murder of innocent little girl.
