Sharmila for promoting interfaith harmony

KARACHI: Special Assistant to CM Sindh for culture and Tourism Sharmila Faruqui said on Monday that people belonging to minorities in Pakistan are our dear ones same as Muslims.

All religious communities should stay united and promote interfaith harmony, create unity, peace, equity and justice in the society, she said in her statement on the eve of Minority Day observed on 11 August in Pakistan.

She added that August 11 was officially declared as National Minority Day by former president Asif Ali Zardari during PPP rule in 2009. She said that PPP government always committed to provide protection to minorities, and ensure their religious, social, cultural rights in Pakistan.

She urged all religious echelons of country to flourish the brotherhood with each other and foil the plans of all anti-state elements wishing to destabilize the Pakistan and dreamed to derail the democratic system.
