SHC adjourns hearing of Gilani’s petitionSeptember 30, 2015

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the petition filed by former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, seeking stoppage of alleged harassment by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) fraud case.
SHC bench headed by Justice Farooq Ali Shah was hearing Gilani’s petition in which his counsel submitted that he is nominated in identical cases in which he has already been facing trial.
On Thursday’s hearing, the counsel of former Prime Minister requested the court to adjourn the hearing which was accepted by the court.
Gilani submitted that he has been nominated over a dozen of cases for the same charge. He submitted that FIA has been harassing him in respect to registration of new cases for the same charge.
Gilani requested the court to direct FIA not to register new case against him without the court’s permission. He also prayed to the court to direct FIA not to harass him anymore.
It is pertinent to mention here that, on 7th September an Anti-Corruption Court granted interim bail to former Prime Minister in 11 cases pertaining to charges of multi-million rupees corruption scandal.
Anti-Corruption Court granted interim bail to Gilani against the surety bonds of Rs 100,000 for each case, however the court directed him to appear on the next hearing which is scheduled for 12th October.
Senior PPP leaders Yousuf Raza Gilani and Makhdoom Amin Fahim were booked for their allegedly involvement in embezzling multi-million TDAP funds during their tenure. Gilani appeared before the court however, Fahim is not appeared yet as reportedly he is England for treatment where his condition is said to be very serious.
