SHC directs KMC to remove generators installed on foothpaths

KARACHI:The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday directed Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to remove generators installed on the footpaths of the metropolis and furnish the report within one-month.

SHC bench headed by Justice Irfan Saadat heard the petition filed by Rana Faizul Hassan, a Secretary General of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan who sought removal of the generators installed on footpaths which are causing hurdles for the pedestrians.

During Tuesday’s hearing, KMC counsel admitted that many footpaths had been encroached in the metropolis. The court directed to remove the generators and furnish the report within one-month.

Rana, the petitioner, submitted that all the footpaths had been encroached, particulalry by the banks for installing their generators in violation of rules.

The court was requested to issue directions to KMC for the removal of the generators so that the pedestrians can move without any hurdle.
