SHC extends Rauf Siddiqui’s bail till Aug 6

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday extended the protective bail of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Abdur Rauf Siddiqui till 6th August 2015, in a case regarding listening and arranging a hate speech of his leader Altaf Hussain.

The division bench headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar extended Siddiqui’s protective bail in 26 cases registered against him at different police stations on the charges of being a part of MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s hate speech.

Earlier on Saturday, former provincial minister, Siddiqui was granted pre-arrest bail by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in a case registered against him at Karachi’s Sukhan Police Station. The complainant accused Siddiqui of being a part of MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s speech.

Over 100 cases had been registered against MQM chief Altaf Hussain under the clauses of the Pakistan Penal Code and Sections 6 and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997 at different police stations for making remarks against the military establishment and other national security agencies in his speeches.
