SHC issues notice to Rangers, police in missing person case

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notices to Director General Rangers Sindh, home secretary and Inspector General Sindh, to submit their comment on the petition seeking whereabouts of one Rehmat Sameer who has been since 7th October.

SHC bench headed by Justice Irfan Saadat took up the petition filed by the mother of detainee who moved the court against law enforcers for illegally detaining her son.

The petitioner stated that her son went to job on 7th October but did not return. She alleged that her son might be in law enforcement agency’s custody but they are not disclosing his arrest.

Citing DG Rangers Sindh, IGP Sindh, home secretary and SHO Gulshan-e-Maymar police station as respondents, she prayed the court to direct the respondents to produce her spouse before the court and disclose the reason of his arrest.

After the initial hearing, the court issued notices to Attorney General and respondents to file their comments on 29th October.
