KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notice to home secretary, IG Sindh, Rangers director general and other law enforcement officers to file their respective replies on a petition against alleged unlawful detention of a person by law enforcement personnel.

The petitioner, Abdul Raheem moved the court, submitting that law enforcement personnel, who were clad in plain, raided his house on September 17 and whisked away his brother Abdul Rauf. Since then his whereabouts were unknown to his family.

He said that he approached the head of Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan police station and officers of other law enforcement agencies for his recovery but not only did they feign ignorance about the incident but also did not register complaint regarding his missing.

The petitioner said that his brother was kept in illegal detention by law enforcers who should produce him in court of law if he was involved in any criminal case. He requested the court to order respondents – law enforcement officers to produce him in the court.

After hearing preliminary arguments, two-judge bench headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh issued notice to official respondents, advocate general Sindh for October 02.
