SHC seeks details of steps taken for Aafia repatriation

Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) has sought the details of the government steps taken in last two years for the repatriation of Pakistani woman scientist Dr Aafia Siddiqui.

According to details, the court heard the constitutional petition of Dr Fowzia Siddiqui (1315/2013) regarding taking contempt of court proceedings against the federal government of Pakistan for failing to comply with the court order.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of SHC Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Mohammed Iqbal Kalhoro sought a report from the government regarding the steps taken by the government for the repatriation of Dr Aafia during last two years. The court ordered to submit these details in the next hearing on November 6, 2015.

The petitioner has prayed that the honourable court had ordered in March 2013 to take steps for the repatriation of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, but the government failed to take such steps.

This was the thirteenth hearing of the constitutional petition of Dr Fowzia Siddiqui, seeking repatriation of her sister, Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
