KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday issued notice to relevant officials of the law enforcement agencies (LEAs), asking them to submit a report on abduction of Karachi University’s finance director said to be picked up by LEAs personnel.

Asif Mukhtar, director legal KU, addressed a letter to SHC acting chief Justice Faisal Arab, requesting him to take cognizance of the kidnapping of Qazi Zaffar Abbass and order law enforcers to recover and produce him before the court.

Applicant quoted Haider Zaman, driver of missing KU official, in a letter as stating that he was going to drop Mr Qazi to KU on Thursday morning when their car was intercepted by police personnel near Rabb Medical Center, block 13-D, Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

They got Mr Qazi off the vehicle and took him away forcibly. Since then his whereabouts were unknown to them and his family.

The applicant said that missing official had chronic heart and sugar diseases, adding that there was serious threat to his life. The applicant requested the court to take notice of the incident and order his recovery from illegal detention of LEAs.

SHC acting chief Justice while converting application into constitutional petition issued notice to LEAs officials for tomorrow (July 25).
