Karachi: Sindh Assembly here Tuesday demanded to ban sit-ins and dharnas on roads and streets so that people may not faced problems due to the road blocked in the garb of protest.

The House unanimously passed a private resolution of PPPP lawmaker Khirunisa Mughar regarding imposing ban on dharnas in which public roads are blocked.

The mover said people face a lot of problems when busy roads are blocked by protestors for hours. Many emergency patients die due to these blocked roads and women, children and elderly people commuting or travelling face huge troubles.

The speakers said there should be strong lawmaking from the government side to end the culture of closing roads and arteries in the name of protest. Political and religious parties and media should also be urged to cooperate in this regard.
