Karachi: Sindh Assembly here Tuesday supported a demand that burns centers should be established in each district of Sindh province to save lives of serious burn patients. Presently there is only one burns center in Sindh province, running in the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) but many critically burnt people die on way to it during their shifting from far-flung areas of the province.

PPPP lawmaker Saira Shahiliani in her private resolution demanded from the government of Sindh to take steps for establishing these burns centers at district level. She said people face immense problems to shift a burns patient to Karachi and they should be provided this facility at their doorstep. She said such centers should also be opened on Superhighway and National Highway.

However, Sindh health minister Dr Mehtab Dahar said presently the government is trying to establish trauma centers at all government-run district hospitals. He said in next phase the burns centers would also be established in the government hospitals.
