KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Information, Archives and Local Government, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has said that in the past, Sindh had been meted out step motherly treatment by the centre and PPP despite a complete tenure cannot cover those long years of ignorance.

This he said while talking to media in the Sindh Assembly building before start of the session on Tuesday. He said in the past Sindh was ignored in every sector, particularly in development. PPP just after coming into power tried its best to cover the gap. The gap is so wide that it cannot be covered over night, he said.

He said “in our last tenure three years passed in floods, repairing its losses and rehabilitation of people. In the remaining two years not only the government system which was destroyed by the dictator was restored but record development works were carried out. Closed schools and colleges were revived, new universities established and top of it drinking water was provided in far flung areas of the province,” he said.

Replying to a question he said “Our Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari invited all the political forces to join hands to works against terrorism, poverty and illiteracy,” he said and added that the same offer was also for MQM because our leadership believed in reconciliation.

Replying to another question, he said the country was faced enormous challenges. “Hundreds of thousands of IDPS are looking for our support. The flood affected people of Punjab also need our held and our army which has launched Operation Zarb-e-Azb but some so called champions of Naya Pakistan are busy in staging protest and dhharnas,” he said and invited them to shun unnecessary political confrontation and shoulder the burden of national issues and own them.

Talking about division of Sindh in administrative units, Sharjeel Memon said that PPP was very much clear in its stand that it would never allow balkanization of mother land, the Sindh. He condemned THE ban on ARY News and urged the government to lift ban against the channel immediately.
