Sindh plans technical varsity

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme (BBSYDP) to start training in nursing, paramedics and hotel management.

Presiding over a meeting of BBSYDP here at the CM House, he said there is a huge demand in the Gulf countries for paramedical staff and nurses and we must avail the opportunities.

He was told that BBSYDP was imparting training in 34 different trades, including ECG technician, anaesthesia, x-ray-technician, OT technician, lab technician but the most popular trades among girls are beautician, stitching and computer courses.

The chief minister said that he wanted to establish first ever Technical University in Sindh. He was told that 292,000 youth in various trades have been trained successfully and have developed training material and manuals of 389 trades in English, Sindhi and Urdu.
