Sindh police to conduct recruitment through NTSSeptember 28, 2014
KARACHI: To ensure transparency and merit, Sindh police has decided to make new recruitments against the announced vacancies by utilizing the assistance of National Testing Service (NTS). SSU wing of Sindh police has recently completed the recruitment procedure successfully through NTS.
This was informed by IGP Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali to the visiting delegation of National Management College here on Sunday morning. He said that keeping in view the Gender Responsive Policing, women were being encouraged to join police service and in the coming recruitments more than 2000 women would be inducted.
“Considerable reduction in crime has been observed in the province of Sindh, especially during the last three months (July, August and September 2014). The Sindh police has, in particular, focused against terrorism, target killings, kidnapping for ransom and extortion. During the reported period, 247 criminals have been killed in different police encounters while 1293 were arrested”, IGP revealed.
IGP also shared the details of the ongoing targeted operation, (since September 5, 2013) against the criminals in Karachi. Comparing the number of killings before targeted operation & during targeted operation, he informed the house that the figure of target killings had come down from over 2342 to around 989 which showed significant reduction (2342-989=1353). “Similarly, cases of extortion had reduced from 1303 to 1245 (1303-1245=58) and cases pertaining to street crimes also showed reduction from 2196 to around 1798 (2196-1798=398)”, he added.
Jamali further informed the delegation that during the year 2014, the Sindh police had recovered 517 kg of explosive materials from the possession of terrorists in addition to 23 bombs, 459 hand grenades, 16 RPG-7 rockets, 11 suicidal jackets, 4 G-3 rifles, 260 KKs/SMGs and 7954 pistols/revolvers/shot guns. ”A total number of 2392 encounters took place in the province so far this year, killing 371 terrorists/kidnappers/dacoits & criminals. Police also arrested 7435 criminals during the current year”, he added.
