Six committees formed to monitor healthcares’ performance

KARACHI: Health Department, Government of Sindh, has constituted six vigilance committees to monitor hospitals, medical staff, nursing institutions, basic health units, and training programs across the Sindh province.

According to a notification, in compliance to decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the health department Sindh has constituted vigilance committees to ensure constant monitoring of the hospitals, healthcares, PPHI, and health education institutes.

The committees had been formed in Karachi, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Larkana. These vigilance committees will monitor the public hospitals, medical education institutions, health department employees, treatment facilities, ambulance services, provision of equipment in operation theatres, functioning of labs and blood banks.

The vigilance committee of Karachi comprises Additional Secretary Technical (convener), health department, Director Health Services (member), Secretary/ Director, Sindh Medical Faculty Karachi (member), and Dr Syed Zafar Mehdi, OSD-II(PH) health department government of Sindh.

The following officials including District Health Officer (convener), Deputy Director General (nominee of DG Health) (member), Medical Superintendent of major public hospitals had been selected as member of vigilance committee from Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Larkana, respectively.
