Sixteen died while 20 injured in Shabqadar bomb blast

Peshawar: Sixteen people including two police men were killed while 20 other injured when an alleged suicide attacker blew himself up inside at the gate of the session court building at Tehsil Shabqadar, district Charsadda on Monday.

According to DIG Mardan Saeed Wazir the suicider was trying to enter the Judicial Complex however the security personal foiled the bid due to which he blew himself at the gate.

“Casualties would have been high had the suicider succeed to enter the building of Judicial complex” Mr. Wazir told media men adding that the actual target of the attacker was the bar room inside the judicial complex however he failed to reach there.

Eyewitnesses said that the police men at the gate intercepted the suicide attacker at which he opened fire on police and martyred a police man at the gate after which he blew himself. “Head constable Naseem had tried to stop the suicide attacker therefore the attacker could not entered in the complex,” another eye witness said.

According to Lady Reading Hospital the injured includes two children while four of the injured succumbed to injuries in hospital. The injured were also shifted to Tehsil Hospital Shabqadar hospital where heirs of the injured people complained for in-adequate arrangements to treat the injured people. They also protested when provincial health minister Sharam Khan Tarakai reached the hospital.

The blast was so huge that caused damaged to many vehicles in the scene. Security forces soon after the blast reached the spot and cordoned off the area to start relief and rescue operation and shift the injured to hospital.
