SMPA will promote pentathlon in Sindh: AfzalNovember 12, 2014
Karachi: Sindh Modern Pentathlon Association (SMPA) President Afzal Zaidi Thursday said that SMPA will make efforts to promote the sport throughout Sindh. While addressing SMPA general body meeting, Afzal said that SMPA would give equal importance to every region of the province.
“Every region is important and if we want to establish a strong and talented team of Sindh, then focusing on every region is important. We will do our level best and use every resource available to make a strong team, who could perform well at national level and eventually bring laurels for the country by performing well at international level,” Afzal said.
SMPA vice president Khalid Muneer, secretary Imran Ali Zaman, treasurer Syeda Majida Haneef and other officials were also present. Meanwhile, Pakistan Modern Pentathlon Federation (PMPF) secretary Chaudhry Zahoor Ahmed and Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput also attended the meeting.
Afzal further said that SMPA will soon be organizing refresher and training courses at school and colleges level, which will be conducted by qualified coaches.
The general body also planned to organize inter-region and Quaid-e-Azam Day pentathlon championship along with several other events for the year 2015.
Zahoor Ahmed assured SMPA that the national body would soon be giving the equipments to all provincial association.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Ali Rajput also assured SOA’s full support to SMPA. He added that SMPA should also follow IOC Charter and give 20% presentation to women in the association.
