Special Olympics National Games begin

Karachi: The Special Olympics National Games commenced Saturday here at KPT Sports Complex. More than 250 special athletes from Islamabad, Lahore, KPK, Quetta and Karachi are participating in the event. In male’s hundred meter free style event, Mazhar Mahmood clinched top position while Tahir Siddiqui was runner-up in the event.

Meanwhile, in females 25 meters backstroke event, Aqsa took first position while Jasmin came second. Farha Farooq and Sanza came third and fourth respectively. In male breaststroke event, Mazhar Mahmood came first followed by Tahir Siddiqui and Asim in third position respectively.

Aqsa took another top position in female’s 25 meter free style event followed by Farha Farooq in second position.

In basketball event, Sindh beat Punjab by 18-8 score while later Islamabad overpowered Sindh by 24-2 score and then Punjab by 28-6 score. Saeed Ahmed, the chairman Special Olympics Pakistan (SOP) was the chief guest in the opening ceremony.
