Sports: Cricket: PCB BOG meets in Lahore

Karachi: The 31st meeting of the PCB’s Board of Governors (BoG) dealt with a heavy agenda and arrived at various decisions after thorough deliberations in Lahore.

The issue of nomination for the ICC President for the 2015-16 term was referred to a committee, which would evaluate and recommend the candidate most suited for the position to the Chairman PCB, for communication to the ICC.

The committee is headed by Chairman PCB with secretary IPC, Mr Mohammad Ijaz Chaudhry, Mr Iqbal Qasim and Mr Shakil Sheikh and Mr. Mansoor Masood Khan as its members.

On the status of some officials holding dual positions, Chairman PCB Shaheryar Khan was authorized by the BoG to take a decision on a case to case basis depending on whether or not there was a conflict of interest in the two positions.

Ms. Bushra Aitzaz’s term as Chairperson, PCB Women’s Wing expires at the end of October 2014. The BoG acknowledged her contribution in promotion of Women’s Cricket in Pakistan, and determined that, since there is no such position in the new constitution, the post would stand abolished on October 31, 2014.

The BoG approved the formation of a Media Rights committee for sale of PCB’s home tour rights on long term basis, and allocated a flexible budget for its functioning.

In other items of agenda that came under discussion and approved by BoG were: Confirmation of the minutes of 30th meeting of BoG held on August 23, 2014 and matters arising out of the minutes, ratification of circular resolutions

The Chairman and the BoG appreciated the Cricket Committee headed by Shakil Sheikh which had done a lot of hard work and research to propose various amendments of various rules relating to management of cricket matters.

Other than Chairman Shaharyar Khan, the following members attended the Special BoG meeting: former Chairman Mr Najam Sethi, Mr. Shakil Sheikh (Islamabad), Mr Gul Zada (Peshawar), Prof Ejaz Faruqi (Karachi), Mr. Iqbal Qasim (NBP), Mr. Mansoor Masood Khan (UBL) , Mr. Yousuf Nasim Khokhar (WAPDA) and Mohammad Ijaz Chaudhry, federal secretary IPC. The PCB COO Mr. Subhan Ahmad and CFO Mr. Badar M. Khan, Mr. Salman Naseer (Secretary BoG) also attended the meeting. Mr. Amjad Latif (SNGPL) could not attend the meeting owing to departmental preoccupations.
