Sports: Football: Pakistan Premier Football League begins today

Karachi: The eleventh edition of Pakistan Premier Football League offering cash prizes of Rs 2.9 million begins today (Saturday) here in Karachi. Pakistan’s highest level football competition will begin with a match to be played between K-Electric and National Bank of Pakistan here at KPT Stadium.

Apart from Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore will also host the tournament’s matches. The matches in Islamabad centre will start from September 22 at Jinnah Football Stadium while the matches at Lahore center will after Eid-ul-Azha from October 13.

A total of 132 matches will be played between 12 teams, which are reduced from 16, to raise the competitiveness in the league.

The competing teams are KRL, K-Electric, Wapda, PAF, Army, PIA, Muslim FC, KPT, NBP, Afghan FC, Railway, Baloch FC Quetta.
