Sports: (PTF re-inducts PIA as its full affiliated unit with all rights)

ISLAMABAD: The council of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) on Monday re-inducted PIA as full affiliated unit of PTF with all rights, whereas FATA was taken on as an Associate member of PTF.

The meeting of general council of PTF was held here on Monday. The Management Committee of PTF was announced by President, Salim Saifullah Khan, who chaired the meeting, which was also attended by Council Members of PTF, including S. Dilawar Abbas, a Patron of the Federation.

The nominations of Brig (r) Khalid Sajjad Khokher, as a Patron and Khwaja Saeed Hai and Iftikhar Rashid, as Senior Executive Vice Presidents, had been announced by the President earlier.

Iftikhar Rao, Saeed Ahmed, Khawar Hyat Khan, Col Inamullah Khan, Tariq Murtaza, Tariq Mumshad Bodla, Mumtaz Yousuf, Asif Dar, and Majid Bashir were announced as Sr. Vice Presidents.

Justice (r) Ejaz Yousuf, Mian Munir Ahmed, Mohammad Tahir, Gulzar Firoz and Shah Jehan Khan Shinwari as Vice Presidents. Shabbir Gul , Ahmed Ejaz, S. Azeem Shah , Umer Ayaz Khali and Irshad Durrani were announced as the Joint Secretaries.

Salim Saifullah Khan announced that PTF intended to host three ITF Future World Ranking Professional tournaments, and the Federation will initiate action on this very soon to earn a place in the month of May 2015.

This, he said, will help to open the doors for other international tennis Tournaments in the country. He also thanked the Arif Habib Group and the Summit Bank for being amongst the first this year to donate generously for the promotion of Tennis in the country.

Elaborating on the future plans, the Secretary PTF announced that the Federation will introduce ITF Coaches education Program, and a Juniors’ Development Program for the first time in Pakistan, although the same have been operative in neighboring countries for over several years, having produced very encouraging results in India, Sri Lanka, Iran, Thailand etc.

PTF Council also decided to start the process to identify and register all clubs and players of the country to be able to design tennis activities for the future. PTF also formed various sub committees for the effective running of PTF affairs during the tenure of the present body.

The Council was also informed that Pakistan will take part in various international team championships in the coming four months, such as Junior Davis Cup, Junior Fed Cup, WBT under 14, Fed Cup and also Davis Cup Asia Oceania Group 2 against Kuwait at neutral venue, and Sri Lanka had been chosen after consultations with the leading players.
