Sports: Snooker: Snooker training camp begins ahead int’l events

Karachi: The training and practice camp for national cueists ahead of Jubilee Insurance 2nd Asian Team Championship and 3rd 6-Red Snooker Championship begins today (Wednesday) here at the Khurram Agha Snooker Club.

The camp is scheduled to conclude on August 15 two before the beginning of the tournaments. The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) will be hosting the two events from August 17 to 23 here at Avari Towers.

In Asian 6-Red event, defending champion Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Sajjad, Mohammad Asif Toba, Hamza Akbar, Asjad Iqbal, Sohail Shehzad, Abdul Sattar and Shahid Aftab will represent Pakistan.

In Asian Team tournament, four teams namely Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Sajjad, Imran Shehzad and Shahid Aftab, Shahram Changezi and Asjad Iqbal and Sohail Shehzad and Mohammad Bilal will feature for Pakistan. Pakistan has been allowed to field two additional teams for the team event, which is a privilege given to host nation.

Apart from Pakistan, cueists from Afghanistan, UAE, Syria, Qatar, India, Thailand and Bahrain will also be seen in action during the two events.
