Summit: (PM, Norwegian Crown Prince discuss bilateral relations)July 6, 2015
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has said that relations between Pakistan and Norway are based on commonality of views and shared values of democratic pluralism and economic liberalism.
He said this during his one-on-one meeting with the Crown Prince of Norway, Prince Haakon, in Oslo on Tuesday. The Prime Minister appreciated Norway’s development cooperation with Pakistan, especially in the health and education sectors.
He also invited the Crown Prince and Crown Princess, Ms. Mette-Marit to visit Pakistan at any time of their convenience. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is in Norway to attend Oslo Summit on Education for Development. This is the first official visit by a Pakistani leader to Norway in a decade.
The Prime Minister’s visit will help in strengthening the existing ties between Pakistan and Norway. Later, the Prime Minister will travel to Russia to attend the two-day Shanghani Cooperation Organization Summit beginning in Ufa on Thursday.
Pakistan which enjoys Observer’s status in SCO, has been making substantive contribution to regional peace, security and development.
On the invitation of the Russian President Vladimir Puntin, Nawaz Sharif will attend the outreach meeting of the leaders of BRICS statesin Ufa. BRICS is an association of five major emerging national economies – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
