T20 kind of events to promote peace: commissioner

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that successful holding of T20 cricket tournament in Karachi would perform a central role to help establish and promote peace and international cricket activities in the city.

He said this while talking to media after the final T20 match. Cricket organizer Asif Azeem and other relevant persons were also present on the occasion.

Siddiqui said that winning of Peshawar’s team in Karachi has sent a message of love and unity across the country. The holding of T20 event was a welcoming and hopefully Pakistan Cricket Board would organize more such tournaments in the city so that the flood lights of Karachi cricket stadiums could remain lit as same.

He lauded the arrangements made by all the relevant organizations for the security and civic works during the matches.

“This kind of competitions would promote peace in the city,” he said.

The commissioner said that as all teams from all the big cities of Pakistan participated in the tournament so it would increase brotherhood, love and unity.
