Teachers demand arrest of teacher’s killers

Peshawar: Government school teachers of district Karak on Monday set two week deadline for the arrest of the teacher otherwise they would boycott their duties. Speaking a news conference at Peshawar Press Club, Khairullah Hawari, president Government Teachers Alliance Karak (GTAK) said a primary school teacher Muhammad Arif who was killed during duty at Koh-e-Maidan Primary School district Karak in last September but still after one year police failed to arrest the killers.

He alleged that Awal Noor and Zalwa Noor were the two accused were charged in First Information Report (FIR) which was registered in the concerned police station at that time.

Flanked by Javed Iqbal, Chairman GTAK, Fazal Wahab, Asmat Ullah, Umer Farooq and other Hawari demanded of the government to announce Shuhada package for heirs of the deceased teacher.

He denied link of the slain teacher with any organization saying he had not received threats from any side. He questioned the role of government and law enforcement agencies in protecting lives and properties of the masses. He added the teachers are playing important role in disseminating knowledge among new generation.

The teacher leader said if their demand was not fulfilled before October 27, teacher would have no other option to boycott their duties besides protesting on the roads.
