Three policemen among five killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Five persons, including three cops, were killed in separate violence incidents here on Thursday.

A police constable, Mohammad Sharif, 26, son of Mohammad Saleem, resident of Qalandaria, Sakhi Hassan, was shot dead by unidentified armed men at Jhunpra hotel near Makka Masjid in Shadman Town. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy.

According to police, the slain constable was posted in Sachal police station.

In another incident, two police constables, Baqio Khan, 40, son of Abdul Slam and Abdul Bari, 35, son of Adam Khan, were killed by unidentified armed men in North Nazimabad No.1 area. The bodies were brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

In another firing incident, an ambulance driver, Aftab, 30, resident of Qasba Colony, was shot and injured by unidentified armed men near Orangi Town No 8. He was rushed to ASH for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.

Yet in another incident, a man, Syed Salman, 30, son of Syed Zafar Hussain, was shot dead by unknown gunmen near Khilafat Chowk in Paposh Nagar. The body was shifted to ASH for medico-legal formalities.
