Three remanded to police custody in murder case

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court-II (ATC-II) on Monday remanded three accused, Saleem Shehzad, Mohammad Asif and Syed Majid, to police custody for 14 days till 12 October 2014 in murder case.

Police produced the accused before ATC-II under tight security.

The Investigation Officer Inspector Ishrat Rana requested the court that police needed their investigation and physical custody to map out their connections and other accomplices. The court accepted the police request and remanded the accused to police custody till 12 October with the direction to police to produce the accused on 13 October.

According to the prosecution, the accused were involved in kidnapping Syed Akhtar Manzoor, demanding Rs 4 million for his safe release on 23 September and killing him due to nonpayment within the jurisdiction of Sir Syed police station.

The case FIR No 327/2014 was registered under Section 302 (premeditated murder), 365-A (kidnapping for extorting property) and 34 (common intention) on the complaint of Syed Mehmood-ul-Hasan at the Sir Syed police station.
