Torkham authorities recover large quantity of narcotics

Peshawar: Torkham authorities seized a large quantity of narcotics being smuggled from Afghanistan to Pakistan via Torkham border, official said on Thursday.

Political tehsildar at Torkham border told media by phone that during routine checking they recovered 40 kilograms of fine quality heroine and seven kilograms hashish.

The narcotics were concealed in the luggage of a passenger which was being shifted across this side of the border in a handcart. However, the drugs peddler skipped to Afghanistan before he was arrested and left the pushcart inside Pakistan, the official said.

It may be added here that during the last one month hundreds of kilograms heroine and hashish had been seized in various raids and routine checking in Khyber Agency and arrested many drugs traffickers at Torkham border.
