Towel factory catches fire in New Karachi

KARACHI: Fire brigade officials declared fire in a towel factory in New Karachi a third degree fire on Thursday.

It was doused off with the help of more than 10 fire tenders and a snorkel after a struggle of five hours. In the light of statements of eye-witnesses, fire brigade officials told that the factory caught fire from a garbage dump set on fire near the factory through air.

It was such a high-intensity fire that it also affected the adjacent factory. Financial loss could not be estimated yet. No casualty took place and all the people from the factories were excavated unhurt, they said.

Meanwhile, Karachi Water & Sewerage Board spokesperson said KWSB had taken special measures to provide water to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation fire tenders to put off the fire in the towel factory.
