Trade: (FPCCI urged for immediate appointment of capable Textile Minister)

ISLAMABAD: The Senior Vice President FPCCI Sheikh Khalid Tawab drew the attention of the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif over vacant position of Minister for the last two years in the Textile Ministry and said that the separate ministry was established for textile sector keeping in view of its importance in the national economy.

In a statement, he said that textile sector is the largest sector of the country which provides employment to millions of people and earn foreign exchange for the country by exporting its products in the international markets.

He said the business community related to textile sector is facing various problems including billions of rupees stuck up with the government on account of sale tax refunds, DLTL, Export Running Finance, rebates etc.

He said they are bond to pay interest thereon to the banks while the government is using their money without bearing any cost. He said that delay in the refunds causes’ liquidity problem to the exporters and enhance cost of doing business as well.

He further stated that despite the fact that Pakistan has GSP Plus status but our textile export is decreasing day by day and we could not get appropriate benefit of GSP Plus so far.

Tawab urged for immediate appointment a capable Minister for Textile along with proficient staff in textile ministry so that the exporters can easily approach them for their problems and immediate solutions thereof.
