Traffic police punish 204 corrupt cops

KARACHI: Karachi Traffic Police Department has taken stern action against 204 traffic police officials and constables who were found guilty of misconduct, said Traffic Police Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh on Monday.

Talking to PPI, DIG said, since September 2014 till date at least 25 traffic police officials including PI, SI, ASI, HC and PC had been dismissed from their service those were found taking illegal money from private and public transport drivers while 35 other officials have been reverted from their ranks who were found allegedly taking forfeitures from their sub-ordinances.

Dr Amir said, at least 144 other officials were those who were absent from their duties for long time and some were found in poor performances were suspended from their service.

Amir said that his department has not only brought enormous betterments in traffic system of Karachi but also wiped out the department from corrupt officials and constables. He said the stern action would not only be taken against traffic law violators but also it would be taken against traffic official or constables if any found in misconduct.
