Peshawar: A Training Course on Procurement for the Officials of The Elementary and Secondary Education Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been started in collaboration with United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID).
A Total of 250-300 employees of the education department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been selected for this training course. The training will be given two batches of around 15-20 Officials in each session and will carry on till the end of May, 2014. Apart from Peshawar, the training would also be held in cities of Swat and Abbottabad.
The training is a part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Support Programme (KP-ESP) which is a five year programme designed to support Education Department to realize the objectives of its education sector plan, which includes strengthening Public Financial Management and Procurement System with the said department and its district education offices.
The project is aimed at imparting professional training to education department officials to develop their capacity and professional skills.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan said, “PTI Government believes that professional training is inevitable to improve the performance of Government Institutions.
He said the provincial government is spending millions of rupees on teacher’s trainings and also taking initiatives for capacity building of Education Department Officials and it is necessary that there should be a transparent system to check the performance of trainees before and after the training.
