Transporters reject 5% increase in taxJuly 7, 2015
KARACHI: All Pakistan Truck Trailers Owners Goods & Brokers Welfare Association on Wednesday strongly condemning the government for 5% increase in tax and demanded to withdraw it immediately.
Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club Chairman All Pakistan Truck Trailers Owners Goods & Brokers Welfare Association Chairman Malik Shehzad Awan, General Secretary Nasir Jafri and Yaseen Niazi said 5% additional tax, recently imposed by the government on service providers, is strongly condemnable act. They said transport has got the status of backbone in economy of Pakistan but unfortunately it is not being given the status of industry.
Criticizing the government, they said ‘a government of businessmen’ has imposed yet another tax. They said they have been paying about 18 sorts of taxes.
Nasir Jafri said local police had impounded their four vehicles in Khairpur district without any reason while the baseless cases registered against them. He demanded that their arrested persons should be released.
The leaders warned that if Chief Minister Sindh and IGP Sindh do not pay attention towards their issues by 13th July 2015 they would be bound to take any serious step.
