Tree plantation drive launched in DMC East

KARACHI: Keeping environment clean is our responsibility. It is easy to make tree plantation but caring those plants is more important task like a mother looks after her children.

This was stated by Administrator District Municipal Corporation (DMC) East Karachi, Rehmatullah Sheikh while inaugurating a tree plantation campaign, entitled “Green and Peaceful Karachi,” on public private partnership basis to create awareness among youth for plantation along with Director Parks DMC East Raza Qaimkhani, Chairman National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) Naeem Qureshi and President Youth Parliament Rizwan Jaffar at Murtaza Park PECHS, here on Monday.

Sheikh said that tree plantation is no doubt a great work but the first most important work is to keep cleaning areas with awareness.

He said that they are ready to offer possible help to keep district east clean and green. He said we should fulfil our responsibility and help NGOs, Communities and other institutions in this regard.

Chairman NFEH Naeem Qureshi said while briefing Administrator East that this campaign has been started with the help of Commissioner Karachi, District Municipal Corporation East. Qureshi said 60 saplings are being planted with the help of 35 youths in Murtaza Park, while our target is to plant one lac saplings in the city.

Director Parks Raza Qaimkhani said at the moment that on the directives of Administrator DMC East, work is going on to keep city clean and green. President NFEH appreciated the cooperation offered by Administrator DMC East.

Rahmatullah Sheikh inaugurated the National Forum for Environment and Health’s tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling in Murtaza Park PECHS. Founding Chairman Youth Parliament Rizwan Jaffer presented shields to Administrator East Rahmatullah Sheikh and Chairman NFEH Naeem Qureshi. Deputy Director Parks Jamshaid Zone East Iqbal Sheikh was also present there.
