Tributes paid to Anita Ghulam Ali

KARACHI: Rich tributes were paid to noted educationalists, intellectual and former Vice Chairman Labour Coordination Committee late Anita Ghulam Ali at a condolence meeting organized by Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER) here on Saturday.

Chairman, Pakistan Study Centre, University of Karachi Dr. Jaffar Ahmed, veteran trade union leader Usman Baloch, educationist Dr. Jamal Naqvi, Habibuddin Junaidi of All Pakistan Trade Union Organisation, CEO of PILER Karamat Ali, Zeenat Hissam, Lateef Mughal, Zulfiqar Shah and others threw light on various aspects of life of late Anita Ghulam Ali.

She was a multi-dimensional personality, who not only dedicated her life for education, but she supported and actively participated in the activities of trade unions for workers rights, commented Karamat Ali. She was founder member of the PILER and she continued participating in PILER’s activities despite her physical disabilities.

Dr. Jaffar Ahmed said as a student he used to hear English bulletin on radio Pakistan in the voice of Anita Ghulam Ali. “She was a rare combination of political activism and intellectualism.”

Dr. Jamal Naqvi said Anita Ghulam Ali belonged to an educated and rich family, but she always advocated for right of education for poor children. She dedicated her entire life for improvement in education and the society.
