Two alleged criminals die in encounter

KARACHI: Two alleged criminals were killed in police encounter and three police personnel were also injured in retaliation by accused on Wednesday.

Karachi Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) conducted a joint operation in Malir Halt area against criminals. According to police sources, the criminals opened fire and hurled grenades on the police personnel.

Three police personnel including two constables; Faisal, 28, son of Mirza Aslam, and Mansoor Siddiqui, 30, son of Khalid Siddiqui, were injured in the attacks. However, in retaliation, both accused were killed.

The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centers (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities where one of the victims was identified as Abdullah while the identity of the other could not be ascertained yet.

A walkie-talkie, mobile phone SIM cards, and arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession, sources added.

Moreover, the injured were rushed to a private hospital for treatment.
