Two cops among seven killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Seven people, including two policemen, were killed and six others injured in different violence incidents in the city on Thursday. Station House Officer (SHO) Paposh Nagar Police said that two police constables, Mohammad Mushtaq and Mohammad Atif, were deployed on duty at Sarafa Market, Paposh Nagar, when unidentified accused opened fire on them. Resultantly PC-8674, Mohammad Mushtaq, 55, was killed.

He said that the other constable remained safe. The criminals also took the SMG of police personnel with them. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed hospital (ASH) for a postmortem examination.

Noor Mohammad, 60, son of Nara Khan, was shot dead by unknown armed bike riders in SITE-A. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for an autopsy.

A 25-year-old person, Asghar Khan, son of Dilbar, was shot dead by unknown armed men at MPR colony in Orangi town. The body was brought to Sindh Qatar Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

SHO Baghdadi police station informed that a person, Samad Raees, son of Mohammad Baloch, aged about 40-45, was killed by unidentified armed men at Phool Patti Lane in Lyari. The body was shifted to CHK for an autopsy.

Separately, a police constable, Yousuf Khan, 40, son of Khushal Khan, was shot dead by unknown armed men near Al-Hassan Bakery in Orangi Town No. 4. The body was shifted to ASH for a postmortem examination.

Police said that the policeman was in plain clothes. A card found from his pocket showed that he was posted in VVIP Security Zone.

SHO Police Station Jamshed Quarter said that accused Arsalan, aged 22 years had opened fire and injured a girl namely Sana, 20 daughter of Hameed at Bungalow No. 82 Muslimabad, Kashmir Road. Later the accused committed suicide. Both were by caste Sindhi and working as servants in said bungalow. Motive of incident was seems personal enmity. The body and injured girl were shifted to CHK.

Duty Officer Boat Basin Police Station informed that police found a teenager girl dead, who was identified as Sidra, 16, daughter of Ishtiaq, resident of Hindu Para, Teen Talwar Block-1. He said that she was killed by unknown persons, when she was going back to her house from a tuition centre. The body was shifted to JPMC for a postmortem examination.

Medical Legal Officer (MLO) Abbasi Shaheed Hospital reported that a person, Usman, 25, son of Aslam Moeen, was brought in injured condition from Bleeche Paradise, Block-II Gulistan-e-Johar. Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Idrees, Aziz Bhatti Police Station, said that the above namely person was injured by a stray bullet at his house.

MLO JPMC Dr. Rohina reported that a person, Aijaz Dahri, 30, son of Mohammad Yousuf Dahri was brought to JPMC from Malir Halt, having received bullet injuries caused due to firing of unknown persons.

DIGP Base East, SIP Sarwar had verified and stated that injured man was an Urdu speaking engineer and incident was occurred at the under construction bridge near Malir Halt.

Ayoob, 45, son of Anwar, was shot injured by unknown persons near Landhi Number 4, Charagh Hotel. He was shifted to JPMC for treatment.

Meanwhile, two policemen, Yaseen, 45, son of Ghulam Hussain and Ghulam Shariq, son of Mohammad Haris, were injured when unknown bike rider threw a grenade at Kalri Police Station. The injured were shifted to CHK for treatment.
