Two criminals killed in rangers-police action in Lyari

KARACHI: Two alleged gangsters were killed and 12 suspected criminals were captured, while a Rangers official was injured during different raids and search operations of law enforcement agencies in the city on Saturday.

Rangers spokesperson said that the police and Rangers launched a search operation in Afshani Gali and Kalakot areas of Lyari which resulted in an encounter with the criminals. In the shootout between the criminals and the law enforcement agencies one gangster Faheem alias Bitko was killed and a Rangers man was injured.

He said that the killed criminal was involved in 12 murders, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and other heinous crimes. Arms were also recovered from his possession, said the spokesman.

Separately, according to a ranger official, a Lyari gangster, Shafiq, was killed in an encounter at Gulistan Colony area of Lyari. Shafiq was affiliated to Aziz Baloch group and involved in the killing of 16 people, kidnapping for ransom and many other offences.

On the other hand, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) City Shiraz Nazir said that a Lyari gangster Rizwan Kachi was arrested in injured condition at Kalri area of Lyari. He was involved in different cases of extortion and other crimes, SSP said.

Meanwhile, Rangers claimed to have arrested 12 suspected people in ongoing targeted operation from Old Golimar area of the city. Rangers spokesman said that the suspects were shifted to unknown location for further interrogation.
