Two more polio cases reported in Karachi

Karachi: Two new polio cases were confirmed in Karachi city on Thursday, increasing the number of children suffering from crippling disease to 164 in Pakistan.

Deputy Project Manager, Expended Program on Immunization(EPI), Dr Durray Naaz Jamal said the first case was confirmed from Sultanabad, Union Council number-8, Gadap Town where a 10-month old boy, Hazrat Umer, son of Akramullah, tested positive for the virus. She said this is the fourth case from the same UC.

She informed second case a 22-month old girl, Hajra, daughter of Amir Khan, tested positive from Raja Tanweer Colony, Union Council number-7, Orangi Town. She explained this is the second case from this UC.

She said 115 cases have been reported from Federally Administered Tribal Area (Fata), 29 from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 14 from Sindh, three from Balochistan and two from Punjab.
