Two policemen killed and five injured in Peshawar bomb blast

Peshawar: Two policemen were killed and six other people were injured when vehicle carrying Deputy Commandant of Frontier Reserve Police came under attack in Hayatabad area of Peshawar on Thursday.

Malik Tariq along with his police guards when left his residence and were passing near Peshawar Development Building when bomb placed in bicycle exploded with a big bang. Resultantly vehicle of Malik Tariq almost destroyed and he was injured along with his two police guards.

The injured were shifted to the Hayatabad Medical Complex for emergency medical treatment. Tariq received wounds on his head and arm but his condition was said to be out of danger. However both of the police men succumbed to injuries.

Officials said the vehicle was destroyed in the blast, also wounding at least two passersby.

The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack on the police officers.

SSP operation Dr Mian Saeed, told said the convoy of Deputy Commandant Frontier Reserve Police (FRP), Malik Tariq, came under a targeted attack in Hayatabad’s Phase 5 area and he had sustained injuries.

Later the funeral prayer of two martyred was offered at Malak Saad Police Lines Peshawar which was attended by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, IGP Nasir Khan Durrani, Commissioner Peshawar and large number of police men.

Talking to media after Janaza, CM said situation in the province has been improved as compared to the past but still the remaining of terrorists would be eliminated.

He said government is fulfilling all the needs of police force which is involved in fighting a war against terrorism.
