Two suspected terrorists killed in encounter

KARACHI: Sohrab Goth police on Saturday claimed to have killed two terrorists in a joint police and rangers encounter within the limits of Sohrab Goth police station.

Assistant Sub Inspector Supard Hussain said that on a tip-off, a joint search operation of rangers and police was conducted at Indus Pass in Sohrab Goth. He said that terrorists opened fire on them. In retaliatory fire a criminal killed and other was arrested in injured condition.

Hussain said that the body and the injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where injured criminal died. The deceased were identified as Umar and Najeeb.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DIGP) East Zone said that the criminals were affiliated with a banned organization. He said that during a joint search operation of police and ranger in the area criminals opened fire on law enforcers. In retaliatory fire two members of banned outfit were killed.

He said that arms and one motorcycle were recovered from their possession. Further investigation was under way.
