Islamabad: United Nations in Pakistan have expressed condolences on the loss of life and extensive damages caused by the current monsoon floods in Pakistan and offered to support national relief efforts if needed.

“People of Pakistan have unfortunately suffered from destructive floods now for the fifth consecutive year. This is a heavy burden on the affected communities and on the nation as a whole, said a statement of the UN here Tuesday.

The relief efforts of the national disaster management institutions, civil society and the Pakistan Army are commendable. The United Nations and its humanitarian partners are ready to support the national relief efforts, including early recovery, if necessary”, said United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator Timo Pakkala.
