KARACHI: SITE Association of Industry Chairman, Younus M Bashir, has expressed dismay over the unilateral supply of electricity to the SITE industries. According to him, more than seven hour-long load shedding of electricity has made SITE industries unviable which are compelled to close down. Despite provision of 222 MMCF average gas by SSGC to K-Electric, unannounced load shedding is incomprehensible, he added.

Bashir further stated that due to the reduced working hours in Ramadan and unannounced load shedding, production process had decreased resulting in difficulties to meet the deadlines of export deliveries. He also asserted that SITE was being discriminated in the supply of electricity as compared to the other industrial areas.

Unannounced load shedding of electricity has also resulted in shortage of water in the SITE area. The Chairman SITE Association demanded priority in provision of electricity to SITE area from which K-Electric collects 99% bills. He, therefore, urged the Managing Director and other authorities of K-Electric to take notice of the situation and grant exemption to the SITE mills from load shedding of power supply.
